Most places have an interesting story to tell, if you take the time to look a little harder. Wakefield is no exception.

Did you know, for example, that:

Wakefield used to have its very own racecourse
 
At one time, Wakefield had not just one but two castles
 
Part of Wakefield’s medieval Chantry Chapel ended up in somebody’s back garden?
 
I certainly didn’t know. It was only when I started researching this blog that I realised I’d been moving around my home city for over 40 years with my eyes shut. So many stories were hiding in plain sight.
